This was a SARRC run on the long course at Sebring under Sanction: #10-R-908-S. I really improved my times during the test day. I was actually passing a number of cars. I got taken out at turn 17 on Friday as I overtook someone on the inside at corner entry. Things were going great until someone dive bombed me on my inside and you can’t do three wide so I hit the wall. The RMS crew got me back up and running for Saturday.
I got to meet Pat Enzman and Paul Alspach who are now on my race buddy list and Facebook friends. Paul was getting to drive an RMS SRF for his 16th Birthday from his Mom. Pat used to race them as an SRR before they were SRFs.
Mike Emerson brought his kids down on Saturday with his new friend, Carrie who teaches math. I did a terrible job of driving on Saturday as I was overexcited that I could drive fast so I keep trying to overtake quickly and ended up overdriving the car and spinning out several times. The start was tough as I got trapped behind a jerky racer and lost lots of spots. Check out the link at:

I had figured out how to drive the car fast but I had blown the racing part of the deal. I came in 14th out of 25 starters but would have easily been in the top 10 without all the silliness. On the Saturday cool down lap it was dusk and I drive down to the hairpin watching an absolutely perfect sunset. It was outstanding.
Sunday started off much better but during the beginning of the race I spun at turn one. If you listen closely you can hear the track bumps cause me to lift on the throttle slightly at turn in. You can see the spin at:

Even with my foot on the brake the car was still moving and my new friend, Paul Alspach clipped my rear as he came around the corner, clearly my fault, but that’s racing.
This is my only DNF, believe it or not, in 19 race starts. My crashing seems limited to practices and qualifying. My total seat time for the weekend was 3 hours and 5 minutes.
